The Nes Lower-Case Alphabet Mat is a versatile, interactive tool designed to help children “unlock the code” of reading and spelling. These $11 \times 17$ professionally printed and laminated mats feature a double-sided design to support various learning stages.
The Front: Building Sound-Symbol Associations
The front of the mat focuses on letter recognition and sound association:
- Color-Coded Alphabet Arc: Letters are arranged in an arc to help with sequencing, with vowels in red and consonants in blue.
- Letter/Keyword/Sound Boxes: A grid at the top contains boxes with letters, keywords, and matching pictures (e.g., Alligator for ‘a’) to reinforce phonemic awareness.
- Interactive Grid: A central 3×6 grid allows students to place plastic letters or use dry-erase markers to practice encoding and decoding words.
The Back: Sequencing and Mastery
The back of the mat provides a “scaffolded” environment for more advanced practice:
- The “Anchor” Arc: This side features an arc that only displays the “anchor letters” a, mn, and z.
- Sequening: Students use this side to place the full alphabet in order without the visual support of every printed letter, building muscle memory and automaticity.
Mats are 11×17, professionally printed and laminated.
3D plastic letters are now sold only as add ons.
Note. We only sell non-magnetic 3D plastic letters due to choking and ingestion hazards. Please ensure this meets your requirements before purchasing. No refunds on plastic letters and numbers.
